CEAI@MyFinB Launches Strategic Programme on Ethics of AI in Education

: The program focuses on ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI in education, aiming to develop responsible and equitable practices

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 19 April 2023 CEAI@MyFinB, a leading education consultancy firm, has announced the launch of a new strategic programme aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. The programme, titled “The Ethics of AI in Education: Strategic Perspectives and Outlook for the Education Industry,” is tailored towards learning institutions and schools globally that require an independent, tailor-made approach towards handling education in the era of ChatGPT.

The unique feature of this programme is that the top management or board of governors will be presented with a working paper tailor-made to their universities based on the feedback and data collected throughout the activities.

“The Ethics of AI in Education” programme comprises of six sessions of two hours each for Educators, six sessions of two hours each for Students, one full-day in-person event, and one Strategic Working Paper on the topic for top management. The programme will address critical issues such as how to assess students for their critical thinking and cognitive skills, how to harmonize with Gen-AI tech like ChatGPT, and how to create a blueprint for a proactive strategy to deal with the future of education.

According to a research paper by the World Economic Forum, critical thinking is one of the top skills needed in the workforce by 2025. However, only 16% of educators believe that their students are adequately equipped with the necessary critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, there are concerns that AI could further undermine critical thinking and cognitive skills, leading to an even bigger skills gap in the workforce.

“We believe that AI can be a powerful tool for educators, but we must ensure that we are using it ethically and in a way that enhances, rather than replaces, human interaction and critical thinking,” said Prof M. Nazri, Founder and Chairman of Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI), Global @MyFinB (CEAI@MyFinB).

The programme will include the supply of keynote speakers, up to three panelists for the session as deliverables. Participants will receive certificates of participation, and poll-taking/survey will be designed and executed by CEAI@MyFinB.

The video and multimedia storyboard will be provided to help participants understand the issues better. The program will also provide access to a virtual networking and learning management portal per user.

CEAI@MyFinB aims to help educators and students take an active role in promoting ethics in AI in education. Interested parties can register for the programme by contacting CEAI@MyFinB directly.
