ISCA Unveils AI Initiative: Prof M Nazri Joins AI Committee to Uplift Accountancy Industry

Singapore, 29 September 2023 – Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant (ISCA) recently launched the AI for AI (Artificial Intelligence for Accountancy Industry) initiative that seeks to proactively tap into the use of AI to uplift the accountancy profession. This will be actualized by fostering a pro-AI ecosystem that will instill new competitive advantages for accountancy and finance professionals. Through the creation of a robust pro-AI ecosystem, it aims to empower accountancy and finance professionals with new competitive advantages.
We are also proud to announce that Prof M Nazri, Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) & MyFinB Founder is appointed as a distinguished member of the AI Pillar committee – a pivotal part of this initiative under the ISCA taskforce. Prof M Nazri’s wealth of experience in digital innovation positions him strategically to assist in identifying and assessing problem statements within the industry. His role involves facilitating collaborative brainstorming sessions to craft suitable AI solutions and, where applicable, driving the creation of AI solutions with support from tech solution providers and external organizations.
The AI Pillar committee is under the adept leadership of co-Chairs Cyndi Pei (CFO, Regional Data Centre, SingTel) and Song Yeow Chung (CFO, Old Chang Kee Ltd), both esteemed ISCA Council members. This dynamic team will collaborate with sub-committee leads for each key pillar of work:
- Research – Led by Prof Ong Yew Soon, Chief AI Scientist, A*STAR, and President’s Chair Professor of Computer Science, School of Computer Science and Engineering, NTU.
- Policy & Regulations – Led by Lee Eng Kian, Managing Partner and Head of audit and assurance, PKF Singapore.
- AI Solutions – Led by Darren Thayre, Head of Innovation and Digital Transformation deal lead, Global Strategic Initiatives, Google.
Together with other sub-committee members, who bring their own technological expertise and industry insight, the mission is to facilitate widespread AI solution adoption and set the course for AI’s impactful integration within the business, accountancy, and finance sector.
