Institut Dato’ Onn (IDO) Embarks on AI-Driven Digital Transformation Initiatives for Johor

Johor Bahru, 9 November 2023 – Institut Dato’ Onn (IDO), the beacon for youth leadership and development, announces a groundbreaking move towards digital transformation through strategic implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives to address gaps and form the building blocks of the Think Tank Centre (TTC).
The AI Competency Programme represents the initial step in IDO’s comprehensive plan to establish the Think Tank Centre (TTC). This program commenced with a one-day training session hosted at Afini Medini, Iskandar Puteri, and it will be complemented by two additional supplementary webinars as part of our ongoing efforts to build and prepare for the launch of theTTC.

This initiative is at the core of our vision, meticulously designed to ensure a holistic, sustainable, and prosperous future for Johor.”
IDO recognizes the paramount importance of harnessing AI technologies to propel Johor into a digitally advanced era. The institute aims to foster innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity across various sectors through tailored AI solutions and programmes such as roundtables, dialogues, research publication, index tracking and capacity building programmes.
Prof M. Nazri Muhd, Founder/Chairman of Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI), Global, underscores the significance of individuals in these transformative initiatives: “AI’s true potential is unlocked through its ability to enhance decision-making and drive progress across all aspects of society. Collaborating with IDO, our mission is to make a meaningful impact in Johor by harnessing AI to address critical challenges and empower its people. However, it’s essential to remember that the success of any digital transformation initiative is intricately tied to effective change management, cultivating the right mindset, and achieving the optimal human-machine engagement model. People are at the heart of this transformation.”
More than 30 dedicated individuals from various backgrounds have come together for this ambitious project, laying the foundation for the Think Tank Centre (TTC) @ IDO. The registration list provides a diverse profile analysis, showcasing a mix of youth leaders, trainers, agencies, and lecturers who are actively engaged in this transformative journey. As we move forward, the formation of a steering committee and task force is well underway, with the invaluable assistance of the Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) Global, to drive the 9 key AI projects for Johor. These individuals are pivotal in ensuring that we achieve the best combination of human-machine engagement models and address the essential aspects of change management and mindset needed for the success of this digital transformation initiative.
Key Outcomes of the Transformation Phase 1 Training programme are these 9 AI Projects to be implemented in phases next year:
1. Volunteer Readiness Profiling: AI-assisted profiling of volunteers ensures timely and effective disaster response, aligning capabilities and availability.
2. Undergrad Dropout Intervention: AI identifies at-risk students, providing tailored interventions to enhance academic engagement and reduce dropout rates.
3. Job-Matching Platform: Centralized AI-powered job matching connects industry vacancies with qualified workers, addressing underemployment.
4. Automated Event Reporting: Monthly management reporting of community events streamlined through AI, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
5. Disaster Relief SOP Automation: AI automates Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring efficient disaster response and stakeholder coordination.
6. Resource Allocation Optimization: AI guides optimal resource allocation for government projects, measuring social impact and effectiveness.
7. STEM Student Encouragement: AI personalizes interventions to boost student engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
8. Transportation Infrastructure Enhancement: AI solutions address traffic, road quality, and transportation challenges, optimizing urban and rural mobility.
9. Social Entrepreneur Support: AI tools aid social entrepreneurs in financial and business management, promoting sustainability and growth.
