CEAI Global, Digital Signal and Pertubuhan Khayr Malaysia Join Forces to Transform School Funding Through Projek SEMADI

A strategic collaboration to empower underserved schools, strengthen educational opportunities and harness artificial intelligence for sustainable community development.
KUALA LUMPUR, 12 July 2024 — The Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) Global, Digital Signal Corporate House Sdn Bhd and Pertubuhan Khayr Malaysia have formalised a strategic collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance Projek SEMADI, an initiative designed to address funding challenges faced by schools across Malaysia, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
The collaboration marks an important step towards developing sustainable education financing solutions by combining artificial intelligence, digital innovation, strategic partnerships and community participation.
Projek SEMADI seeks to help schools diversify their funding sources, strengthen operational capabilities and improve resource allocation, enabling educators to focus on delivering quality education.
Addressing the School Funding Challenge
Many Malaysian schools, particularly those serving rural communities, face financial constraints that limit their ability to maintain facilities, introduce educational programmes and provide essential learning resources.
An estimated 40% of schools face shortages of essential resources, highlighting the importance of exploring additional funding mechanisms and sustainable support systems.
Reliance on traditional funding channels can restrict schools’ capacity to respond to changing educational needs.
Projek SEMADI aims to address these challenges by introducing a structured approach to fundraising, donor engagement and financial resource management.
Harnessing AI and Digital Innovation for Education
Through the collaboration, the participating organisations aim to explore technology-enabled solutions that strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in educational funding.
Potential applications include digital fundraising platforms, donor relationship management, AI-supported resource planning and data-driven reporting.
For example, schools could use digital tools to identify funding priorities, communicate their needs to potential donors and monitor how contributions translate into improvements in educational outcomes.
Such capabilities could help build stronger relationships between schools, businesses, charitable organisations and local communities.
A Shared Vision for Educational Empowerment
Prof Dr M Nazri Muhd, Group Executive Chairman of the Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) Global, emphasised the importance of ensuring that technological progress creates meaningful opportunities for future generations.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and realise their full potential, regardless of their geographical location or socioeconomic background.
Education is one of the most powerful investments any society can make. Yet many schools continue to face resource constraints that limit opportunities for their students.
Through Projek SEMADI, our aspiration is to bring together technology, innovation and the generosity of communities to create a more sustainable education funding ecosystem.
Artificial intelligence should not be measured merely by its technological sophistication, but by its ability to solve real problems and improve people’s lives.
When we empower schools, we empower teachers. When we empower teachers, we create opportunities for children. And when we invest in children, we invest in the future of our nation.”
Advancing Sustainable Development Through Collaboration
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 1: No Poverty.
By strengthening access to educational resources, Projek SEMADI seeks to contribute to more inclusive learning environments and improved long-term opportunities for students.
The partnership brings together CEAI Global’s expertise in artificial intelligence and strategic innovation, Digital Signal Corporate House’s digital capabilities and Pertubuhan Khayr Malaysia’s community-oriented mission.
Together, the organisations aim to establish a collaborative framework that can support schools, engage donors and encourage sustainable educational investment.
Building a Future Where Every School Can Thrive
The signing of the MoU establishes a foundation for further collaboration, programme development and stakeholder engagement.
Beyond fundraising, Projek SEMADI represents a broader ambition to create an education ecosystem where schools are better equipped, communities are actively involved and every contribution can generate lasting value.
CEAI Global remains committed to advancing human-centred AI initiatives that support inclusive growth and meaningful societal transformation.
The message is clear: A child’s future should never be limited by a school’s financial circumstances. Through innovation, collaboration and collective responsibility, every school can be given a better opportunity to thrive.
